Former Alberta Prime Minister Klein suffers from dementia

Former Premier Ralph Klein of Alberta was diagnosed with a progressive form of dementia.

Klein, former Chief of staff and close friend Rod Love confirm to CBC News Friday that Klein is suffering from aphasia.

The condition has slowed his legendary spirit and language. Klein has been reduced to the use of short words and phrases set and is the difficulty of reading, writing, and by recalling the words.

Health of the former Prime Minister has declined since he left political life in 2006.

Love also stated that emphysema of pulmonary disease slowed the politician.

Klein led the progressive conservative party to four consecutive majorities from 1993. He resigned his post as Prime Minister in 2006.
