
NASA's first Director who has Astrobiology Institute and Nobel Laureate Dr. Baruch "Barry" Blumberg died at the age of 85. He suffered Research Centre a heart attack while attending a Conference in Ames on Tuesday, 5 April. Blumberg served as in the NASA Astrobiology Institute from 1999 to 2002 and is known as the winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Physiology or medicine for the identification of the hepatitis B virus.
"Barry Blumberg was a great chemist and researcher," said Ames Center Director Pete worden. "He was a leading light in the scientific community and a great humanitarian." "He was also a loyal and supportive friend of NASA Ames Research Center and the country's space program."
